Blocking portlets on a page (Ploud6)

Created by Kim Thiel, Modified on Tue, 6 Aug at 4:49 PM by Erik Kulvinskas

By default, the layout of a web page is a three-column layout. A set of left-column portlets and right-column portlets with a center content area. You may want to block on portlet column.

Sometimes, you want more room for center content on a page, such as a calendar. In order to do this, you need to hide (or block) the display of the left and/or right side portlets.

How to block a portlet

  1. Navigate to the page or folder where you want to hide portlets.
  2. Select Manage Portlets from the main tools menu
  3. Click on the column of portlets you wish to block on a page (Left column or right column).
  4. On the Manage portlets page, select Block from the Block/unblock portlets area.
  5. Once you select Block, the setting will automatically update (no need to click an Apply to Submit button).

  6. Click the Return link to go back to the page you navigated to and check to see if your portlet settings are as desired.
